Every fit problem is a symptom with a mechanical cause, and the cause dictates the fix. Select what your bra is doing and get the diagnosis: whether to change band, cup, style, or just re-check how you put it on.

The golden rule underneath most fixes: about 80 percent of support comes from the band. When the band is right, most other symptoms quiet down.

What is the bra doing?

The one-minute reset before resizing

Before changing sizes, fix the wearing routine, because a right-sized bra worn wrong shows wrong-size symptoms. Hook the band level, lean forward and lift each side fully into the cup (called scooping), then stand and adjust straps to hold with light pressure. Half of gaping and spillage cases resolve right there, and the other half now show their true symptom clearly enough to diagnose.

Also check the bra's age: bands lose their elastic authority after 8 to 12 months of regular rotation, and a dead band reproduces every loose-band symptom at any printed size. If the bra is old, replace before resizing.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my bra band ride up in the back?
The band is too loose to anchor, so strap tension wins and drags it upward. Go down a band size and up a cup letter; a level band that stays put is the foundation of every other fix.
Why do my bra straps dig into my shoulders?
The band is under-supporting, transferring weight to the straps. Firming or downsizing the band removes the load; padding the straps only cushions the symptom.
Why does the middle of my bra not touch my chest?
The center gore floats when cups are too small, the band too loose, or the gore too tall for close-set tissue. Try a cup letter up first, then plunge styles with lower gores if it persists.
